Power Steering Pump: Service Precautions

General information
There is no provision for repairing the power steering pump. If problems are reported, trace the malfunction by means of a pressure test and a leakage test. Replace power steering pump if a malfunction is found.

^ Always check steering system for leaks if fluid level is low in reservoir.
^ In case of leaks at the line connections first tighten connections and wipe dry then recheck for leaks.
^ Replacement pumps are not filled with fluid. It is essential to fill the pump with hydraulic fluid G 002 000 and to rotate pump by hand before installing, otherwise the pump may be damaged or be noisy during operation.

- Check hydraulic fluid level.
- Bleed steering system.
- Check steering system for leaks.
