Steering Gear: Locations


Power steering gear, assembly overview

For vehicles from model year 1999





1. Hex bolt, 67 Nm
2. Boot seal
^ Check for tears and scuffing
3. Eccentric bolt
^ Torx T50
^ To release tension, turn clockwise.
^ To tension, turn counterclockwise.
4. Steering column
5. Self-locking hex nut, 30 Nm
^ Always replace
6. Screw and washer assembly, 7 Nm
^ For adjusting toe-in
7. Bolt
8. Self-locking nut, 45 Nm
^ Always replace
9. Steering knuckle from wheel bearing housing
10. Pressure line
^ Tighten union nut to 40 Nm, item no. 4
^ Note installation position:
- At steering gear refer to Fig. 2
11. Return hose
^ Note installation position:
- At steering gear refer to Fig. 2
12. Cylinder bolt, 13 Nm
^ Locking screw for centering steering refer to Fig. 1
13. Power steering gear with tie rods
14. Seal, 16 x 22
^ Always replace
15. Banjo bolt, 47 Nm
16. Seal, 14 x 20
^ Always replace
17. Banjo bolt, 40 Nm
^ With integrated check-valve
