Fuel Filler Neck With Expansion Tank, Component Overview - Vehicles With 6-cylinder Engine And A6 Allroad

WARNING: Fire hazard. When working on the fuel system DO NOT smoke, work near heaters or have anything in the area that can ignite the fuel or fumes.







1 2 Nm (18 in. lb)
2 Heat shield for fuel filler neck
3 Hose connections
- For vent line to EVAP canister
4 Hose connections
- For vent lines to fuel tank
- When removing mark hoses for later installation
5 Hose connection
- For fuel filling duct
6 Hose connection
- For vent line for fuel tank ventilation
7 Ground (GND) connection
- To deter static electricity
- Installation position/Checking procedure, See Fig. 1.
- Ensure tight fit of connector and fasten connector with bolt for fuel filler neck -item 15-
- After installing, measure resistance using multimeter (Fluke 83 or equivalent) between metal ring of fuel filler neck and bare metal part of body. Specified value: approx. 0 Ohm

NOTE: Check installation position with fuel tank or fuel filler neck removed







- Route and connect Ground wire as shown -arrow-.
- Make sure that harness connector for Ground (GND) connection is properly seated on metal ring (Ground clamp) on fuel filler neck.
- Check if contact terminal (tongue) at fastening hole is properly locked in.







- Hold terminal tongue -1- with bolt -2- to fuel filler neck.

CAUTION:
After installing the expansion tank, use ohmmeter to check the electrical connection between metal (Ground clamp) ring on the fuel filler neck and bare metal part (Ground (GND) on Body.
- Specification: approx.: 0 ohm
