^ Universal dial gauge holder VW 387
^ Dial gauge





Work sequence
- Insert valve in guide. End of valve stem must be flush with guide. On account of differing stem diameters, use intake valve in intake guide and exhaust valve in exhaust guide only.
- Determine sideways play.





Wear limit

Note:
^ If wear limit is exceeded, repeat measurement with new valves. Replace cylinder head if wear limit is still exceeded. Valve guides cannot be replaced.
^ Use new valve for measurement purposes if valve is replaced as part of repair work.
