ATF pipes, removing and installing
Notes:
^ When installing, insert the ATF pipes into the transmission by hand as far as they will go before bolting them in position.
^ After replacing the ATF pipes, check the ATF level.
1. Bolt - 20 Nm
- Insert line until impact by hand before tightening
2. ATF line from cooler above auxiliary ATF filter (return)
3. ATF line from cooler (supply)
4. O-ring
- replace
- apply ATF when inserting
5. O-ring
- replace
- apply ATF when inserting
6. Combination - bolt - 5 Nm
7. Combination - bolt - 5 Nm
8. O-ring
- replace
- apply ATF when inserting
9. Auxiliary ATF filter
- must be replaced with a malfunctioning transmission
10. Union nut 29 Nm
11. Union nut 29 Nm
12. Bolt - 5 Nm
13. Clamp
Cleaning
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Hose approximately 18 mm
- Commercially available compressed-air gun
- Drip tray
- Protective goggles
Notes:
^ Before installing a replacement transmission, always blow out the ATF cooler and ATF pipes using compressed air (max. 10 bar) and change the ATF auxiliary filter.
^ When installing, insert the ATF pipes into the transmission by hand as far as they will go before bolting them in position.
Work procedure
- Loosen mounting parts -1- to -5- and remove noise insulation (2 parts).
- Place drip tray beneath transmission.
- Remove Union nuts -3- and disconnect ATF lines.
- Remove bracket for ATF lines, to do so remove nut-2-.
- Remove bolt -2-.
- Disconnect ATF-lines from transmission and remove O-rings -1 from connections -A- and -B-.
- Slide hose approximately 18 mm onto ATF line -A- and secure with hose clamp. Place the other end of the hose into drip tray.
WARNING! Wear safety goggles.
- Blow through ATF line -A- with compressed air gun.
- Move hose on ATF line -B- and repeat procedure.
- Remove auxiliary ATF filter and dispose of it.
- Place the hose below on the ATF cooler into drip tray.
- Install compressed air gun on the ATF cooler and blow through it.
- Install new auxiliary ATF filter.
- Re-secure ATF lines, and for this purpose, use new O-rings on transmission and on ATF cooler.
- Then check ATF level and top off.
