Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair

Left Exhaust Manifold, Removing And Installing

Removing
- Remove left front exhaust pipe with catalytic converter.







- Remove threaded connection -1- at heat shield which is accessible from top
- Unscrew threaded connection -2- which is accessible from bottom and remove heat shield.







- Unscrew threaded connection -1- of exhaust manifold which is accessible from top.
- Remove nuts -2- from bottom and remove heat shield bracket.
- Remove nut -3- and remove exhaust manifold.

Installing
Installation is reverse of removal, noting the following:


NOTE: Replace gaskets and self-locking nuts.


- Install left front exhaust pipe with catalytic converter.
- Align exhaust system tension-free.

Tightening torque

Right Exhaust Manifold, Removing And Installing

Removing

- Remove right front exhaust pipe with catalytic converter.







- Remove bolts -1- and -2- at lines of secondary air injection.


NOTE: The resonator -4- with bolts -3- and -5- remains installed.







- Remove bolts -1- and -3-.
- Disconnect hose -4- from line of secondary air injection.
- Pull out guide tube for oil dipstick -2- toward top from the oil pan (upper part) and swing it forward.







- Remove upper mounting bolts -1-.
- Remove bolts -2- and remove heat shield bracket.







- Unscrew nuts -1- and remove heat shield.
- Unscrew nuts -2- and remove exhaust manifold.

Installing
Installation is reverse of removal, noting the following:


NOTE: Replace gaskets and self-locking nuts.


- Replace O-ring at guide tube for oil dipstick and insert guide tube into hole in oil pan (upper part).
- Install right front exhaust pipe with catalytic converter.
- Align exhaust system tension-free.

Tightening torque
