Steering Wheel, Removing And Installing (Multi-function Steering Wheel)

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required







- Torque wrench V.A.G 1331







- Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 A







1 - Torx bolts T30 (Qty. 2)
- Tightening torque 7 Nm
2 - Steering wheel
- Removal:
- Remove airbag unit (multi-function steering wheel).
- Bring steering wheel to center position (wheels straight).
- Remove screw - 6 -.
- Remove spiral spring connector - 3 -.
- Remove multi-function cable connector - 9 -.
- With steering wheel heating: Remove steering wheel heating connector - 10 -.
- Remove steering wheel - 2 -.
- Installing:
Installation is reverse of removal. Observe the following when doing so:
- Ensure connector and securing clip engage completely (audibly).
- Insert supply wire - 7 - in clip - 8 -.
- Attach steering wheel in center position (wheels straight).
- Replace bolt - 4 - and tighten it to 50 Nm.

5 - Airbag unit
6 - Socket head bolt
- Tightening torque 50 Nm
7 - Supply cable 8-Clip
9 - Multi-function steering wheel connector
10 - Steering wheel heating connector
11 - Coil connector with slip ring
