Rear brake pads, replacingRemoving
- Remove wheels.
- Mark positions of brake pads that are to be used again. Install again in same place to ensure uniform braking.
- Remove brake caliper housing.
CAUTION: Do not loosen brake hose or lines.
Secure the brake caliper with a piece of wire in order to relieve the stress on the brake hose.
- Remove brake pads.
WARNING: Brake fluid is poisonous and must never be extracted by mouth through a hose.
CAUTION: Extract part of the brake fluid from the brake fluid reservoir before pushing back the pistons.
Use the bleeder bottle or a plastic bottle, which is used only for brake fluid, for extracting the fluid.
Installing
- Insert special tool 3272 50 that the shoulder (arrow) is positioned in front of caliper piston.
- Screw in piston as far as stop by turning threaded spindle clockwise, and simultaneously turning knurled wheel counterclockwise.
Note: If the piston does not move easily, a 73 mm open-end wrench can be used on the flats provided.
- Install brake pads in carrier.
- Install brake caliper housing and tighten. Tightening torque: 35 Nm (26 ft lb)
Note: Four self-locking bolts are included in the repair kit and they must all be installed.
CAUTION: Perform basic adjustment of rear wheel brake thoroughly each time brake pads are changed, refer to Testing and Inspection Testing and Inspection
