If the Board Computer MPG and/or miles to empty reads incorrectly, check Board computer code, fuel injection code and fuel consumption signal.

Board Computer repair information in Group 91 of the 100/200 Repair Manual microfiche does not identify the codes for Audi 200 models equipped with the 2.22L 20 V Turbo engine, code 3B.

When checking the board computer code, fuel injection code and fuel consumption signal, use the information and codes listed below. The new information will be incorporated into the Repair Manual microfiche during the next update of the 100/200 information.

BOARD COMPUTER CODE, CHECKING

A - Function selector switch
B - Reset button

^ switch ignition OFF
^ press and hold Board computer RESET button B
^ switch ignition ON (while holding RESET button down)




^ correct board computer code is displayed (see illustrated table)

If correct code is NOT displayed,

^ check coding connector (plug) located on left rear of instrument panel for correct part number (see table)




FUEL INJECTION CODE, CHECKING

^ start engine and run at 3000 RPM for approx. 30 seconds

^ stop engine and switch ignition OFF

^ press and hold down Board computer RESET button B

^ switch ignition ON

^ press upper function selector switch A and hold down

^ fuel injection code is displayed




A for CIS fuel injection
F for CIS-E III and Motronic fuel injection

If correct fuel injection code is NOT displayed

^ check for correct coding connector
OR
^ check fuel consumption signal


FUEL CONSUMPTION SIGNAL, CHECKING (VEHICLES WITH CIS-E III AND MOTRONIC FUEL INJECTION)

^ check that air flow sensor plate is properly adjusted (CIS-E III only, see Repair Manual, Group 25)




^ connect black 10-point Board computer connector to adapter VW 1594/17

^ connect voltmeter between contact 5 and engine ground

^ start engine and run continuously between 1000 RPM and 4000 RPM

^ voltage must vary between 0.3 and 0.8 Volts (depending on engine RPM)

If NOT OK,

^ repair open circuit between fuel injection control module (Engine Control Module) and black 10-point Board computer connector or replace fuel injection control module (Engine Control Module)
