CAUTION
Use all parts in repair kit. Coat seals and pistons lightly with VW/Audi brake cylinder paste or equivalent before installing.
WARNING
Brake fluid is poisonous and corrosive to painted pads.
FIGURE 1 - BRAKE CALIPER PISTON, REMOVING:
FIGURE 2 - PISTON SEAL, REMOVING:
Note Place a wood block in caliper to avoid damaging piston.
FIGURE 3 - PISTON, INSTALLING:
- Slide dust boot onto piston
FIGURE 4 - SELF-ADJUSTING MECHANISM, RESETTING:
- press into housing through threaded hole with screwdriver
Note The threaded shaft must be free to turn by hand.
FIGURE 5 - PISTON, INSTALLING:
- lubricate piston and cylinder bore lightly with brake cylinder paste
- insert lip of dust boot into groove in cylinder
- turn piston to engage thread
FIGURE 6 - PISTON, INSTALLING:
- center tool on piston and carefully push piston in to stop
CAUTION
Lip of dust boot must slip into groove in piston.
