Rear Brake Basic Setting

NOTE: Parking brake cable must be free of tension during basic setting check.

Brake Caliper With Parking Brake Lever:

1. Push caliper brake lever with screwdriver against stop on left and right sides.

Brake Caliper With Lever Stop:

- Cable is too tight if lever of opposite side caliper is pulled away from stop.

Parking Brake Adjusting Nut:

2. If cable is too tight, loosen adjusting nut until both caliper brake levers rest against stops.
3. Parking brake adjusting nut is not easily accessible. Disconnect driveshaft from rear differential if necessary.
4. Apply the brake pedal using an equal force approximately 40 times with the vehicle stationary.
5. Check that both rear wheels rotate freely.
6. Reconnect driveshaft (if necessary). Torque to 45 Nm (33 ft lb).
