DTC Troubleshooting: 81

DTC 81:

Engine Control System (Including PCM) Malfunction

1. Check for PGM-FI System DTCs with the HDS Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.

Are any DTCs indicated?

YES -

Troubleshoot the indicated PGM-FI system DTC(s).�

NO -

Go to step 2.

2. Clear the DTCs with the HDS Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

3. Test-drive the vehicle with the ACC activated.

4. Check for DTCs with the HDS Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

Is DTC 81 indicated?

YES -

Check for loose or poor connections. If OK, update the ACC unit Testing and Inspection, then recheck. If the ACC unit was already updated, replace the ACC unit Service and Repair.�

NO -

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.�
