SYMPTOM
There is a metallic click, tick, creak, or pop coming from the rear shelf area.
PROBABLE CAUSE
There is not enough clearance between metal body panels in the rear shelf area.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Increase the clearance between the metal body panels.

DIAGNOSIS
Test-drive the vehicle with the rear seat-backs folded down.
Is the click, tick, creak, or pop coming from the rear shelf?
YES - Go to REPAIR PROCEDURE. NO - This service bulletin does not apply. Continue with normal troubleshooting procedures.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Make sure the rear seat-backs are folded down.
2. Carefully pull the lower edge of the rear bulkhead cover to release the two lower clips.
3. Loosen each bolt on the right and left sides as shown, and retighten the bolts to 22 N.m (16 lb-ft).
4. Remove the bolts as shown.
5. Insert a medium flat-tip screwdriver into the spot weld areas where you removed the bolts.
6. Install and tighten the bolts to create clearance between the metal panels.
7. Loosen the bolts, and remove the screwdriver.
8. Torque the bolts to 22 N.m (16 lb-ft).
9. Loosen the damper inner mounting nut as shown.
10. Insert a medium flat-tip screwdriver between the metal panels.
11. Tighten the damper inner mounting nut to create clearance between the metal panels.
12. Loosen the inner damper mounting nut, and remove the screwdriver.
13. Torque the inner damper mounting nut to 55 N.m (41 lb-ft).
14. Repeat steps 9 thru 13 on the other side of the vehicle.
15. Apply touch-up paint to any areas that were scratched or exposed to prevent rusting.
16. Test-drive the vehicle, and make sure the noise is gone.
