SRS DTC Troubleshooting: 86-1x, 86-2x (x can be 0 thru 9 or A thru F)
DTC 86-1x ("x" can be 0 thru 9 or A thru F): Faulty OPDS Seat-Back Sensor
DTC 86-2x ("x" can be 0 thru 9 or A thru F): Faulty OPDS Seat Support Sensor
NOTE: Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures Service and Repair and General Troubleshooting Information. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
1. Clear the DTC with the HDS. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then wait for 10 seconds.
3. Check for DTCs with the HDS. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
Is DTC 86-1x or 86-2x indicated?
YES - Go to step 4.
NO - Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.
4. Check the connection at the OPDS sensor harness connector (A), the ODS unit harness 18P connector (B), and ODS unit.
Are the connections OK?
YES - Go to step 5.
NO - Repair the poor connections, then clear the DTC.
5. Replace the seat-back cover/pad with equipped OPDS sensor, Front Seat-back Cover Replacement then clear the DTC.
6. Clear the DTC with the HDS. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
7. Do the ODS unit Initialization. ODS Unit Initialization
8. Clear the DTC with the HDS. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
9. Check for DTCs with the HDS. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
Is DTC 86-1x or 86-2x indicated?
YES - Faulty ODS unit; replace the ODS unit, ODS Unit Replacement then clear the DTC. If the DTC is still present, replace the SRS unit. SRS Unit Replacement
NO - The system is OK.
