SRS DTC Troubleshooting: 85-4x, 85-5x, 85-63, 85-64 (x can be 0 thru 9 or A thru F)

DTC 85-4x, 85-5x ("x" can be 0 thru 9 or A thru F), 85-63, 85-64: Internal Failure of the ODS Unit

NOTE: Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures Service and Repair and General Troubleshooting Information. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

1. Clear the DTC with the HDS. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then go off.

Does the SRS indicator go off?
YES - Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

NO - Go to step 3.


3. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

4. Do the ODS unit Initialization. ODS Unit Initialization

5. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.

Does the SRS indicator go off?
YES - The system is OK.

NO - Replace the ODS unit, ODS Unit Replacement then clear the DTC. If the DTC is still present, replace the SRS unit. SRS Unit Replacement
