Symptom Troubleshooting: VSA activation indicator does not go off, and no DTCs are stored
VSA activation indicator does not go off, and no DTCs are stored
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and watch the VSA indicator.
Does the VSA indicator go off?
YES - The system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
NO - Go to step 2.
2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
3. Check the VSA OFF switch. Testing and Inspection
Is the switch OK?
YES - Go to step 4.
NO - Replace the VSA OFF switch. Testing and Inspection
4. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
5. Clear the DTC with the HDS. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
Does the VSA activation indicator go off?
YES - The system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
NO - Go to step 6.
6. Do the VSA sensor neutral memorization. Programming and Relearning
7. Clear the DTC with the HDS. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
8. Check the VSA activation indicator.
Does the VSA activation indicator go off?
YES - The system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
NO - Go to step 9.
9. Remove the gauge control module, and disconnect gauge control module connector B (28P). Service and Repair
10. Check for continuity between the VSA OFF switch 6P connector terminal No. 4 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES - Repair short to body ground in the wire between the gauge control module and the VSA OFF switch.
NO - Go to step 11.
11. Reconnect gauge control module connector B (28P).
12. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
13. Measure the voltage between the VSA OFF switch 6P connector terminal No. 6 and body ground.
Is there 0.1 V or less?
YES - Go to step 14.
NO - Repair open in the wire between the VSA OFF switch and body ground (G501).
14. Substitute a known-good VSA modulator-control unit. Service and Repair
15. Reconnect all of the disconnected connectors.
16. Clear the DTC with the HDS. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
17. Test-drive the vehicle.
Does the VSA activation indicator go off?
YES - Replace the VSA modulator-control unit. Service and Repair
NO - Check for loose terminals or poor connections at the gauge control module connectors. If connections are good, replace the gauge control module, and recheck.
