Parking Brake Shoe Lining Break-in

NOTE: Do the brake lining surface break-in when replacing shoes and/or the rear brake disc/drum.

WARNING: Do this operation in a safe area.

1. Park the vehicle on a firm, level surface.
2. Do the major parking brake adjustment.





3. Keep the parking brake lever release button pushed with a piece of tape (A).
4. Drive the vehicle at 25 mph (40 km/h).
5. Pull the parking brake lever up with 98 Nm (10 kgf, 22 lbf) of force while you are driving the vehicle for 400 m (1/4 mile).
6. Pull the parking brake lever up with 147 Nm (15 kgf, 33 lbf) of force while you are driving the vehicle for 10 seconds.
7. Stop the vehicle and release the parking brake lever for 5-10 minutes to allow the rear brake disc/drum to cool.
8. Check the parking brake lever adjustment.
