Removal/Installation

WARNING: Make sure lifts, jacks and safety stands are placed properly.

1. Raise the front of the vehicle, and support it with safety stands.
2. Set the parking brake, and block both rear wheels securely.
3. Shift the transmission to the P position.





4. Remove the drain plug, and drain the Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF). Reinstall the drain plug with a new sealing washer.





5. Remove the shift cable cover mounting bolts, then remove the shift solenoid/A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve harness clamp and connector from the shift cable cover.
6. Remove the shift cable cover from the transmission housing.
7. Disconnect the shift solenoid/A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve harness connector.





8. Remove the shift solenoid/A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve harness connector stop.
9. Remove the ATF pan (14 bolts).
10. Remove the ATF strainer (three bolts).
11. Remove the lower valve body assembly (six bolts) while pushing the connector out of the transmission housing.
12. Clean the inlet opening of the ATF strainer thoroughly with compressed air, then check that it is in good condition, and the inlet opening is not clogged.
13. Replace the ATF strainer if it is clogged or damaged.

NOTE: The ATF strainer can be reused if it is not clogged.

14. Install the lower valve body assembly in the reverse order of removal.
