Idle Control System (Warm Engine RPM Too Low)

Check According To Following Conditions:

1. Idle RPM is below Spec. (No Load)
a. Idle Air Control Valve (IAC) (14)
b. Idle Adjusting Screw
2. Idle speed does not increase after initial start up
a. Idle Air Control Valve (IAC) (14)
3. On models with automatic transmission, the idle speed drops in gear
a. A/T Shift Position Signal
b. Idle Air Control Valve (IAC) (14)
c. Idle Adjusting Screw
4. Idle speed drops when air conditioner is on
a. Air Conditioning Signal
b. Idle Air Control Valve (IAC) (14)
c. Idle Adjusting Screw
5. Idle speed drops when steering wheel is turning
a. Power Steering Signal
b. Idle Air Control Valve (IAC) (14)
6. Idle speed fluctuates with electrical load
a. Hoses and Connections
b. Idle Air Control Valve (IAC) (14)
c. Alternator FR Signal
7. PGM-FI Control (ECM) Unit (BU)

NOTE: All items should be checked in the order in which they appear. A (number) after the component indicates the fault code associated with that system. If BU appears on with PGM-FI unit, it indicates the vehicle is running in back-up mode.
