The air suction control solenoid is mounted in the vacuum control box at the firewall. The solenoid is grounded by the ECU to control air injection. When the ECU grounds the solenoid manifold vacuum pulls open the air suction valve diaphragm allowing air injection to take place. The ECU delays air suction activation for up to 60 seconds after engine start up depending upon coolant temperature. For additional information on the air suction system, refer to EMISSION CONTROLS.
